About Gabby

Gabby

Gabby was born on April 6, 2007, in a Ewelina Pyzik’s kennel 'Leo Ginger,' in Lublin. She was seventh in the litter 'G 'and she was wearing a pink ribbon.
Gabby’s parents are Liana Sarnia Przełęcz and Lewanika Ba'mukondisi aka ‘Naadir'.

She appeared in our home on the ninth of June and immediately won the hearts of everyone. As a puppy she was very charming and frisky.

From the beginning she was interested in everything. There were times Gabby made us laugh, and times she made us cry, especially when we used to come back home and wonder what had she done this time?

She is a member of our family. We understand each other very well (I’m sure it’s mostly the effect of the positive training methodes), but of course sometimes she seems to be deaf, especially when she has an opinion different from ours. Gabby, like all RR is an individualist with a strong character. But of course these kind of features make us love her even stronger.

Gabby’s always had a great appetite, and although gentle, she is still quite stubborn.

Like a typical specimen of her breed, the more she showed us her personality, with elegance and charm, the more we were wondering what else the RR could do???

When she finally felt at home with us, we went to the puppy school. There we have learnt obedience and positive methods of training. It gave us a lot of joy and experience. Even today Gabby likes to work with the clicker, each time we teach her a new thing, she hears the magic ‘click’.

We’ve also began to take part in dog shows, and I have to admit that we still enjoy it!

What is Gabby like now?

She is a typical RR; with a balanced personality, showing no signs of fear and aggression. She is also very devoted to her family, which makes us love her even more.

What is more, her highly developed territorial instinct gives us an additional sense of security in our home. That is why unwelcome guests should be aware, Gabby is independent and she doesn’t trust strangers. Compared to our friends is nice and sociable.

She is a beloved member of our family. We understand each other very well, but sometimes she seems to be deaf, especially when her opinion slightly differs from ours. As it is commonly known, all Rhodesians are individualists and that's another reason to adore them for.

It is also widely known that Rhodesians are very sociable, and so is Gabby, she just loves to have everyone around.
When it comes to sleeping, she sleeps… in our bed. Believe me, after some time you begin to appreciate the warm sheets, and by the way, as I keep telling my husband, getting another red dog would mean buying a bigger bed:)

Our attitude towards Gabby’s sleeping was ambitious at the beginning, her bed was also in our bedroom, but with Gabby in it. She was more or less five months old when suddenly, she jumped on our bed … which she occupies until this day .

Spending time with Gabby is a great fun. She likes long, active walks with training, lots of running, tracking and fetching things- which is quite uncommon for this breed and I admit, we had to practice it. We also had an adventure with agility.

Gabby loves the company of other dogs, they can play for hours. One of her favorite activities is swimming, whether in the river, lake, salt water, doesn't really matter, as long as not in a bathtub full of shampoo bubbles! Gabby’s breeder, Ewelina, says that our dog’s preference of swimming runs in the family; Gabby’s mom also loved to swim anywhere she found it possible.

Gabby is also very susceptible to training, we’ve just finished a PT course in a great dog school and she did wonderful on the test!

What more can I say?

I think that Rhodesians are the most amazing and wonderful dogs! This breed is really addictive, it makes your life much more precious so that you begin to wonder why haven’t you become interested in Rhodesians earlier?
